Spring Retreat 2020
4 days/3 nights
April 16-19, 2020
Sister, I see you. Working hard. Taking care of everything and everybody. Making moves. Shattering glass ceilings. Climbing to the top. Determined to find a way or make one. I wonder, when do you rest? How do you replenish? Where do you lay your burdens down?
As I look toward a new season and reflect on my/ourwork, my/our way of makin’ a way, my/our doing— Honestly, I am proud beyond measure. of you, of me, of us.
Truthfully, I also get tired.
This season. It’s our time to rest and revive our souls.
I created Starshine and Clay Retreats because I need a place to both affirm my wholeness and practice being well in my body and soul; I needed a place that felt like home to do that. A place where I don’t need to worry bout the small things, like my edges. A place that I don’t have to “study” bout the big things that threaten to send me over the edge, like isms. The things that show up in even the most well meaning of places.
Refuge. We all need refuge. I never met my maternal grandmama, Annie Mae Williams. I’ve longed for her and dreamed her my whole life. I’m told her place of refuge was quiet time and prayer after all of the work was done and all of her children were tucked in. Every Starshine and Clay Retreat includes the practices that my mama, grandmama, and the women before them called and conjured up in order to find refuge: prayer, meditation, moving, being still, music, gathering of us, talking around tables, being in circles, eating, making things, and rest.
I call that simply yoga. And yoga is my gift and the primary tool I use to make, hold, and set the space for the connection, growth, and transformation that happen at every retreat.
It’s time for us to rest deeply in order to fully revive our souls! In the spirit of all of that, the intention and focus of my Spring 2020 Retreat is Rest: A Soul Revival.
And that’s exactly what we will do!
You and a roommate (or two) in one of the six bedroom suites featuring queen, full, and twin beds. Two private, Two double, and one triple room is available. There are four spacious and beautiful bathrooms in the house and they are shared. The house provides space for you to experience a combination of comfort, privacy, as well as fellowship with sister friends old and new.
We dive right in with introductions, meditation, deep breath, and powerful exhales. From the moment we sit down in the circle together, you feel it. The power and presence. The possibility of both manifestation and release. The magic of our being is amplified in and by our opening and sacred circle.
Each yoga experience is designed specifically by Octavia Raheem. Each practice is designed with our restoration, release, relaxation, and re-connection. Practices will include restorative, yin, and flow yoga as well as meditation and yoga nidra. All practices are all levels. Absolute beginners are welcome.
I teach and lead retreats because I need/want to connect with sisters on levels deeper than surface. In our private session you choose what we do. We can sit and talk. We can write together. I can guide you through restorative, yin, or power yoga. We can sit and breath and be quiet. What we do will support your growth and expansion.
I am not playing when I say our Spring Retreat is about deep release and letting go of what gets in the way of our expansion and growth. Tension in the body effects the mind. Yes, a massage is included in the package! Each woman will have the option of Swedish or Deep Tissue massage, tailored specifically to your problem areas. Enjoy aromatic oils and tranquility as you relax.
How often do we have space and time to be intentional and quiet with ourselves, away from the noise, asking, and loudness of the world? Here, there’s space carved out to sit by the waterfall, fireside, or one of the decks over looking the beautiful landscape and simply be quiet.
What are we here to really create? This is a question to be both pondered, reflected, on, shared with others, and experimented with. Each Starshine & Clay Retreat includes an opportunity to explore your inner artist, divine feminine, and creativity through writing, dance, and/or painting.
Combining crystal bowls, gongs, Tibetan bells, and other sacred instruments, our sound therapist will guide us toward and experience of deep release and relaxation. Sound not only helps with inducing relaxation, but also has a way of moving through areas of blockage. These can be located in our physical bodies, our subtle bodies, or both. We release on all levels.
The backyard of our beautiful gathering house has a waterfall, y’all. A whole waterfall to see, feel, listen to, and be lulled by. Come through nature!
All meals are fully catered by the professional staff at Elohee Retreat Center. You don’t have to do a thing except show up hungry at mealtime—our personal/ in house chef will take care of the rest! Each meal will provide options to accommodate individuals dietary needs.
We share wisdom and truth, laughter and tears, practice yoga and meditate. You’ll meet sisters and create bonds that last a lifetime in this magical place.
What happens when you interrupt the day to day grind with: Late night chats by the fire, relaxing and invigorating yoga, delicious food, intentional quiet time, dreams shared beneath the waterfall, morning meditation, a soul nourishing massage overlooking the forest, a private yoga session, sound healing session, and so much more? Anything is possible here. Give yourself permission to let go and grow.
The 220 acres of undeveloped land where Elohee rests is called Landsong. It is located in the North Georgia mountains in the foothills of the Blue Ridge near the village of Sautee Nacoochee. The Elohee Center at Landsong was created to provide a retreat space in Nature to allow for self-exploration, individual growth, and mind/body healing. It is a place where Earth and Air, Fire and Water nurture wisdom both ancient and new.
The Thanksgiving House was the original structure at Elohee and is currently available for use by small private groups. With six bedrooms and four bathrooms, it provides a private like setting for 8-14 individuals. It offers two community rooms with fireplaces, a kitchen and dining room, as well as a meditation/yoga room. The outdoor patio has its own fireplace and overlooks a 100 foot waterfall and small pool.
The Thanksgiving House is nestled in a Rich Cove Forest niche which supports a wide range of trees and plants. Red maple, oak, basswood, and poplar are only a few of the types of trees growing here. Spring wildflowers and medicinal herbs flourish here. Mosses and rotting logs make the damp forest floor suitable for a wide variety of salamanders and one of the most diverse ecosystems found outside of the tropics.
Step out onto your private patio and waterfall view and feel one with nature. The Patio Room overlooks the 100 foot waterfall, includes 1 queen bed with shared bath.
